About Baby Sleep Central

Margot Finch's night desk: a warm lamp, notebook and mug beside a glider chair in a darkened nursery

I'm Margot Finch — a working pediatric sleep consultant, mom of two, and the person families call at week three of a sleep situation that Instagram promised would take three days. I've spent years in client work that runs from newborn nights to toddler curtain-calls, and this site is the thing I kept wishing existed: an honest review of the baby sleep industry, written by someone inside it.

Here's the disclosure that makes everything else on this site make sense: I make my living in this industry. When I review a sleep training method, an app, a course, or the consultants themselves, I'm reviewing my own shelf. I've decided the only way to do that credibly is to be more honest than anyone selling something is supposed to be — including telling you, often, that the free version of the advice is enough, and that most families don't need someone like me. In consults, the pattern I see is families who spent hundreds of dollars before anyone told them the whole picture. This site is the whole picture.

The files: sleep methods for what Ferber, chair, fading and the no-cry approaches actually ask of you (start with the full methods comparison), sleep apps for what the trackers and plan generators really deliver, courses & certifications for what's behind the paywalls, hiring a consultant for the price menus, vetting questions and red flags nobody in my field likes discussing, and sleep environment for the nursery checks I actually run in homes.

Two ground rules, permanent. First: "pediatric sleep consultant" describes my work, not a medical qualification — nobody licenses this job, which is exactly why this site reviews the industry so carefully. I don't diagnose anything, and I don't play doctor in print. Second: your pediatrician outranks me. Reflux, breathing worries, weight concerns, anything medical-adjacent — that's a pediatrician conversation, full stop, and you'll find that sentence all over this site because I mean it.

What you won't find: scare copy, miracle timelines, or a verdict that's for sale. Client stories here are anecdotes, told with details changed — never statistics, because I don't believe consultant success-rate numbers, including the ones I could invent about myself.
